The 2016 SoundSport Summer season will introduce SoundSport Whitewater to drum corps hallowed ground- Perkins Stadium at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
Held on Saturday, July 16th, this competition will occur in conjunction with the 2016 Mid-American Competing Band Directors Association (MACBDA) Championships.
The Mid-American Competing Band Directors Association (MACBDA), founded in 1972, is one of the only remaining summer marching band competition circuits in America. The association includes 30 member bands and consists of three classes of bands, with a range of 20 members to 120 members. The MACBDA competition season usually begins in the middle of June and includes numerous events across Illinois, Wisconsin, and the annual MACBDA Championships – most often held in Traverse City, Michigan during Traverse City’s annual National Cherry Festival.
Each SoundSport ensemble consists of 5 or more members of any age and any instrumentation. Their musical performance is between five and seven minutes staged on a 30 yd by 20 yd performance area. This SoundSport competition will also feature DrumLine Battle teams, creating an exciting, high energy and entertaining event for both participants and spectators!
