Date(s) - December 12, 2015
This December, select members of the award-winning drum and bugle corps will travel to Taiwan to perform as part of the Taoyuan International Band Festival.
This festival has been hosted in Taiwan since 2004 and has become one of the most important activities in the city, which is one of the largest in the country. During the festival, local and international spectators enjoy indoor and outdoor seated performances, including a parade, concerts and performances of all sizes, and many music workshops. This annual event draws bands from all over the world to Taoyuan to make music together.
This year’s Taoyan International Band Festival will feature the Santa Clara Vanguard (Santa Clara, California, USA) as an official musical representative for Drum Corps International (DCI). During their visit to Taiwan, the Vanguard ensemble, which will consist of current corps members, alumni and staff of the organization, will serve as marching music ambassadors representing the highest levels of achievement on the international stage. This journey is made possible in part by Motif Music, an Asian music organization that has been working with Drum Corps International over the past several years to bring its DrumLine Battle and SoundSport programs to students in Greater China.
